Is FREE Ever Worth the Price?

by Joe Mudd on July 26, 2008

Sick of all the Hyped up FREE stuff? The overstuffed Inbox full of teaser messages?

I bet your mom told you the same thing mine told me, “There’s no such thing as a free lunch.”

Down through the years that’s proven to be true almost without fail.

Almost.

2008 – The Summer of the Mega Product Launch

Has your email box been crammed this summer? If you are on the mailing list of any of the Internet Marketing gurus I’ll bet it has.

In fact I can guarantee it.

From this formula to that secret, the mega product launches have been fast and furious. Does it seem to you there’s a new one every weeK, or is it just me?

While they all have different twists, they also have much in common:

  • Claims of BIG BUCKS – money that COULD BE YOURS TOO if you just sign up for their product.
  • Testimonials from people JUST LIKE YOU that have made BIG BUCKS using these SECRET CASH SUCKING methods.
  • Some FREE training – usually a video. These show you just enough to get you excited and wanting to learn more.
  • The chance to get even more FREE goodies. Just give up your email address – if there’s room in your Inbox with all the other offers screaming for your attention.

But you know “there’s no such thing as a FREE lunch” don’t you? After the almost useful freebies and the build up…

The big day arrives.

The email message screams. “Hurry!!! The-clock-is-running-get-it-quick-or-forever-be-crying-in-your-beer-what are-you-waiting-for-time-is-running-out!!!” product lauch has arrived.

Did we mention the easy payment plan?

Friend, easy payments are no free lunch.

“There’s No Such Thing as a FREE Lunch” – Unless There Is

With all this hype. All the times FREE was just bait for an empty-the-wallet product. I’ll bet you’re sceptical arn’t you?

Any smart person would be.

But sometime, FREE really means FREE.

Pull a chair up to the table… Your FREE Lunch is Served.

Come join me for the 2008 version of the Thirty Day Challenge. This all-you-can-eat buffet is the free lunch you’ve been waiting for if:

  • You’re sick of promises for easy wealth – at a steep price.
  • You’re confused by all the different stratigies and formulas and just want a clear plan laid out step-by-step.
  • You’re new to Internet Marketing and don’t even know where to start.
  • You’re an adult and know that making big money on the Internet in little time and with no effort is a bunch of crap.
  • You just need someone to teach you how to make SOME money on the Internet. To get the ball rolling. To get your foot in the door.
  • You don’t want to pay anything for it. You don’t want to be pitched an expensive product after the FREE stuff ends.
  • You want to have FUN with Internet Marketing.

So, What Is The Thirty Day Challenge?

Time to come clean.

When you see all the talk of making tens of thousands, even millions of dollars that the big product launch gurus throw at you, deep down inside do you feel you can’t do it?

Do you feel intimidated? Do you become paralyzed with self-doubt?

How about $10?

You can make $10 in a month by just saving your pocket change. How hard can it be to make $10 online in a month?

Not so intimidating.

That’s what the Thirty Day Challenge is about. Teaching you to make that first $10 online.

What Do You Want From Internet Marketing?

So what are your goals for making money online?

  • Do you just want to make a little extra each month so you can enjoy life without worrying about making ends meet?
  • Do you want to replace your current job with a work-at-home business?
  • Do you want to get rich?

It doesn’t matter what your goals are. Even if you want to make a million. First you have to make $10.

Meet Dan and Ed

Like the other guys, the Thirty Day Challenge has gurus. Two of the best in fact – Dan Raine and Ed Dale.

And they’re not called gurus for nothing. Both have made millions online.

These guys are on the cutting edge of what’s important and what works in Internet Marketing.

Eleven months of the year they’ll take your money as fast you care to hand it out.

But during August they’ll be picking up the tab. During the Thirty Day Challenge “There Is No Charge For Awesomeness…”

Dan Raine of the Thirty Day Challenge

The truth is, you probably won’t hear a lot from Dan during the Challenge.

He seems to prefer his UK based lab to life in front of the camera or the microphone.

But he will make an occasional appearance and he’ll keep testing and tweaking so you can learn the most affective ways to make money online.

Ed Dale teachs you to make money online during the Thirty Day Challenge.Ed Dale will show you, in detail, how to get started in Internet Marketing.

This Australian loves making videos on his Mac.

And teaching.

He will be sharing the best practices for using the new Social Media and much more.

Rumor is that Dan is the brains and Ed the pretty face behind the Thirty Day Challenge.

I don’t know.

You’ll have to join the Challenge and figure it out for yourself.

One Month of Intense Training – Completely 100% FREE!

The Challenge starts Aug 1 and lasts the entire month. NOTHING will be sold.

No lite version. Just full bore learn-to-earn goodness. FREE.

This is what you get when FREE really means FREE:

  • Don’t know what to sell? Find out how to do the research. Learn to use the latest and most powerful free tools to find your best niche.
  • Feel intimidated by the tech? Ed’s videos will lead you all the way. You’ll soon be cruising your way to money online.
  • Web2.0. Social Networking. What? It’s everywhere, this new social media. And its a big deal. During the Challenge you’ll learn about and use the very best Social Networking tools to promote your new business.
  • Never be alone. You will be joined by thousands of like minded friendly folks. Some are newbies. Some are veterans. They are there to help you in the forums and blogs. And many members of the Thirty Day Challenge form teams. You’re invited.

Ed and Dan don’t promise instant wealth. They don’t even promise you’ll make money. That will depend on your effort. Remember that adult part earlier?

They do promise to show you how to take the first steps toward a real Internet business.

First you make $10. Then do it again. Scale it up. Expand.

The skills you learn and the relationships you form will last past the Challenge. They will be your lifelong toolbox for building your real business.

First you have to start.

Devote a month to your future. The help you need is here. It won’t cost you a thing.

Look for me in the forums.

P.S. Want to have some fun? Become a member of the Thirty Day Challenge and spend the month with Dan, Ed and the other members learning the latest cutting edge Internet business building principles. Then watch your inbox during the coming months to see how many offers you get for high-dollar products, teaching the stuff you learned for free during the Challenge. You’ll be amazed.

P.P.S. A word of warning. After spending a month watching, listening and learning from Ed Dale, there’s great danger you’ll start to talk with an Australian accent. You’ve been warned.

Great post. You wrote in your blog what I wanted to say in my blog but couldn’t.

Wow! Mudd, you really told it like it is…If I wasn’t already signed-up I’d head over to Thirty Day Challenge at full speed. I’ve been living full-time off of what I learned last year and I’m getting hungry for more of that delicious free lunch.

Man I almost forgot that I already had joined the team… I was getting so excited that I was feeling like I wanted to join the Thirty Day Challenge… one thing you forgot to mention was Ed’s 3G :)

Honestly, I am glad I joined when I did… see you all around!

Hi everyone. Thanks for the nice comments. I may be getting a swelled head.

Karen – I learned a lot from the last Challenge too. Unfortunately I had to take much longer than a month to do it. My creaky dial-up connection and Ed’s great videos didn’t play nice together. Can you say 2 or 3 days to download one video?

This year I’m keeping up even if I have to set up shop at Starbucks.

Garth – I think you can guess how many YouTube videos I get to see with a 28K connection (God, it hurts my fingers just typing that).

See you inside.

the problem with this post is that

*newsflash*

the Thirty Day Challenge is a hook to get people to join the Immediate Edge, a $97 a month membership club.

this is precisely what the 30DC is.

Ed sends offer after offer to everyone that signs up for the 30 day challenge, he even pitched the Mike Filsaime crap that tricked a lot of people into losing money that went into Ed’s pocket and then blamed his list for falling for it saying they should “know better”.

The 30 Day Challenge is cool IF (and i stress IF) you make a promise to yourself that you WILL NOT BUY anything that is promoted during the Challenge.

this is what i tell to anyone that is interested.

If the preseason is a sign of things to come you better believe that there will be TONS of stuff pitched during the challenge… almost every email sent to the 30DC group contains an affiliate offer of some sort that Ed makes money on.

Truth is that this is a great time to be starting as an affiliate marketer because so many people are giving away “freebies” in an attempt to hook people into buying larger products…

the trick is to navigate them very carefully, learn what you can for free and don’t buy anything that is pitched on the side.

By the way, sorry for the scrambled up comment order.

This is what happens when you put the correct time settings in your blog AFTER people start leaving comments.

Hi Dave, thanks for stopping by. A few points to ponder.

1. In the letter above I point out that Ed and Dan will gladly take your money 11 months of the year. They only work for free in August. This is July.

2. I went through the Challenge last year. I never got pitched once. I believe the entire 2007 Challenge is still online and free if you want to review it for sales pitches. AFTER the Challenge I was offered a great trial offer on Immediate Edge. That was Sept. I was already a member and still had to pay my $97 rather than the $1 new members got in for. No tears from me.

3. Yes Ed offers products to his lists. Yes he promoted many of the launches that I alluded to in the letter. Its what Internet Marketers do. I used his link to purchase some of them. Free Immediate Edge as a bonus has great pull for me.

4. I really do believe – because of past experience – that this years 30DC will also be pitch free. It wouldn’t be in my letter if I didn’t think it was true.

5. Yes, I fully expect to get an offer for Immediate Edge as soon as this Challenge ends. I’ve been inside Immediate Edge. I liked it. A lot. Compared to my $800 per month StomperNet membership (I liked it too) Immediate Edge is a real deal.

6. I said all that and I don’t even have an affiliate link for the Immediate Edge. What’s wrong with that picture?

Very well written post! There is always a hook like mentioned in a prior comment but we are still in control of our credit cards (hopefully!)

I have learned more from watching what others do and taking bits and pieces from whatever I can get for FREE.

I have bought some stuff. Some has been worth it…some has not.

Building a swipe file is essential.

I can only applaud Ed, Dan and you, Joe Mudd for just getting out there and taking action.

See, I am one of those believers in the surest way to achieve your own success is through helping other achieve theirs!

Thanks for the post. It made some great points!

Good luck to you!
